Following allegations raised by the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency on the involvement of Senator Oyelola Ashiru in drug trafficking, the Senate has set up a six-man panel to investigate the matter.
The NDLEA accused Senator Ashiru representing Kwara South of trying to undermine the agency, while at the same time dealing in hard drugs. The NDLEA claimed that a search on his home in Ilorin yield hard drugs, but Senator Ashiru denied the allegations Tuesday and raise a point of order on the floor of the Senate.
Consequently, the Senate mandated the panel headed by Enyinnaya Abaribe to unravel the mystery. Other members of the committee include Senator Kaka Shehu, Senator Ede Dafinone, Senator Ireti Kingibe, Senator Afolabi Shauibu, and Senator Lawal Usman
NDLEA boss General Mohammed Buba Marwa has been ordered to appear before the committee to throw more light on the allegations.
