A 32-year-old man, identified as Onyiuke Nwedeogu, has died from his injuries after setting himself ablaze in his shop in Ndiechi Igbeagu community of Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
According to reports by various media the man committed the act after having a fight with his wife Felicia Nwedeogu over lingering family disputes. He assaulted his wife and made an attempt to set the family house ablaze while his three daughters slept. They were rescued by Neighbours.
After this act he gathered his clothes went to the family’s provision shop and set it ablaze and got burnt in the fire. Mr. Nwedeogu died Wednesday at the Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki due to his injuries.
The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, stated that the command had not yet received a formal report of the incident at the time of this report.
