Five persons including three security agents have been killed and many others injured after gunmen launched unprovoked attacks on two Anambra State communities Monday morning.
The Unknown gunmen stormed the Abatete community in Idemili North Local Government Area and made for the community leader’s home. There was a shootout between the gunmen and security agents. Three of them were hit and also the community leader was critically injured, and he is fighting for his life the hospital.
“The armed hoodlums invaded the community in the early hours of today. This senseless violence has left our community shaken,” said a community member.
“It was chaos. The attackers came out of nowhere in a commando-like fashion and started shooting indiscriminately.”
Also, the Ukpo Community at the Ukpo roundabout in Dunukofia Local Government Area was not spare of the shooting spree. One vigilante operative and a motorcycle rider were killed.
