Atuyota Akpobome a.k.a Ali Baba said he would rather stick to his standup act rather than queue up for a job in Nollywood.
Regarded as the greatest standup act in Nigeria, Ali Baba is reluctant to follow in the lead of his contemporaries abroad like Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence and Dave Chappelle who had gone on to make the big screen in Hollywood.
Speaking while he was being hosted as special guest at the O’Jez Elders Forum Sunday at the Sports Lounge National Stadium, Ali Baba hinted that the shootings, the cuttings were not for him.
“Though I have starred in movies like “The Wedding Party,” “Tax Files” and five other movies, I’m not so driven to be active in Nollywood,” said Ali Baba.
“I do not like the idea that I have sit and shoot for three weeks or six weeks to earn what I can earn in one day.
“Because if I do an MC job I get paid the same amount that a producer would pay for me to act in a movie that would shoot for four or five days. The shooting, cuttings no no they are not for me. There is a difference there.”
