As Nigeria’s Super Eagles Team B begin their preparations today at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Remo-Ikenne Ogun State, the attention of the team players and coaches will be in Nairobi where the draw for the CAF African Nations Championship “CHAN” 2024 will be conducted.
The event is billed for the Kenyatta International Conventional Centre in Nairobi, Kenya on Wednesday, 15 January 2025 17hr 00 GMT. The Super Eagles B will be making a return to the tournament for the first in eight years.
Nigeria has never won the competition. Their best results so far are bronze in the 2016 tournament and silver in 2018 with Morocco thrashing the Nigerian side 4-0 in the final. Coach Daniel Ogunmodede may be aiming to rewrite history when they tackle their soon to be known group opponents. Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania will host the competition meant for players in the African leagues from February 1-28, 2025.
Senegal are the defending champions; they edged 2022 hosts Algeria in the final in Algiers three years ago to lift the title for the first time.
