The National Sports Commission has purged the various Nigerian sporting federations of their long-standing organising secretaries.
In a directive contained in a circular issued Thursday and title “Posting of Sports Officers/Secretary-Generals to National Sports Federations on SGL 08-16,” signed by deputy director Bello Ahmed stated that the new postings are with immediate effect and in line with the new vision of the NSC to reposition Nigerian sports.
The memo urged the out-going and in-coming secretaries to comply with the new arrangement and hand over where necessary, otherwise they would be sanctioned according to the civil service rules.
Some of the Olympics Sports Federation affected include athletics, boxing, basketball, wrestling, table tennis and volleyball.
In athletics the principal sports officer is now Isreal Inwang Mfom, the former secretary-general Rita Mosindi was posted to NSF/Para as chief sports officer. Boxing has Olalekan Faseesin as principal sports officer, while former secretary Dapo Akinyele moves to the NSC Laison office in Lagos.
Basketball has Amina Amanchi and former secretary Peter Njoku moves to Benin City as NSC zonal representative, wrestling has Bode Ademisoro Oluwa Segun, table tennis has Olusoji Akanmu and volleyball has Abbas Wosilat.
