Super Eagles new coach Eric Chelle Sekou has been following the Nigerian national team since he was aged 12.
He always wore the Super Eagles while playing Playstation video game with his friends and he adored Nigerian players like Emmanuel Amuneke, Daniel Amokachi, Rashidi Yekini, Finidi George back in the 1990s.
“Eric has been the Super Eagles coach since he was 12 years old,” SCORENigeria quotes an associate of the former Mali coach.
“His mother told me that he always wore the Nigerian jersey with pride and when he played Playstation, his team were the Super Eagles.
“So, today ask Eric about those great stars of the 90s like Emmanuel Amuneke, Daniel Amokachi, Rashidi Yekini, Finidi George and you will be surprised by how much he knows about them.
“He is first and foremost a big fan of the Super Eagles and it is now a dream come true for him to finally be part of the team he has long admired as a young boy.”
He said Eric Chelle who is now 47 years sees his coming to Nigeria as big risk that is worth taking for the team he loves.
“Yes, it’s true it is the biggest risk he has taken so far,” the close associate admitted.
“It’s like staging a military coup, you either become President or you are dead. He’s prepared to succeed and knowing him so well, he will do just that.”
