Former President Muhammadu Buhari’s special assistant on digital communication Bashir Ahmad, has questioned Peter Obi over his silence in the killing of an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission agent Halisu Sahabi in Awka, Anambra State.
One EFCC agent was killed and another injured as they tried to arrest internet fraudsters in Awka last week. Writing on his X account Ahmad noted that Obi who ran for President on the platform of the Labour party in 2023, should have spoken up and console the family of the deceased agent, like he always does in other cases of carnage in other parts of the country.
“I expected Peter Obi to surprise us by extending his condolences to the EFCC and the family of Aminu Sahabi, who was brutally murdered, while carrying out his official duties, by a suspected internet fraudster, Joshua Chukwubueze Ikechukwu,” Ahmad stated.
“I had assumed he would have strongly condemned the brutal killing, especially since the incident occurred in his state, Anambra.”
According to a statement on Sunday by the EFCC Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the late Salihu was killed while on legal duty.
