President Donald Trump has lashed out at the Episcopal bishop of Washington who during his inauguration prayer service asked him to treat the LGBTQ+ community and migrant workers kindly.
During the service Right Rev Mariann Budde remarked: “You have felt the providential hand of a loving God. In the name of our God, I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now.”
Trump had pledged to deport illegal migrants and also said he would only recognised a man and woman gender in the United States. Speaking after leaving the Church Trump said: “I didn’t think it was a good service.
He later followed up with more remarks on his Truth social media branding the Bishop a “Radical Left hard line Trump hater.”
“She brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way.
“She was nasty in tone, and not compelling or smart
“Apart from her inappropriate statements, the service was a very boring and uninspiring one. She is not very good at her job. She and her church owe the public an apology!”
