There was uproar in Court Monday as suspected killer of Salome Adaidu, Timileyin Ajayi pleaded not guilty to the allegation.
Ajayi who is a gospel music singer was arraigned before Justice Simon Aboki at the High Court of Justice, Lafia, Nasarawa State. He is facing one count of culpable homicide, punishable by death, contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria.
While taking his plea Ajayi maintained that he was not guilty, much to the chagrin of the courtroom spectators including the family of Salome Adaidu.
Ajayi, 34, was caught with 24-years-old Adaidu’s severed head on Sunday January 12, 2025, on interrogation he confessed to killing Adaidu whom he claimed was his lover. A claim the mother of the slain National Youth Service Coprs member denied.
After his plea was taken Justice Simon Aboki, remanded Ajayi at the Lafia Custodial Centre, and adjourned the case to March 17, 2025, for a hearing. He urged for a speedy trial of the case due to the seriousness of the crime.
