Napoli has told Galatasaray it would not accept the €65m the Turkish club has put on the table to make Victor Osimhen remain at Istanbul on a permanent deal.
Reports in Italy by Corriere dello Sport said Galatasaray wanted to make a deal this January to fend off other clubs vying for the top striker whose loan deal expires at the end of the season and would be ready to listen to offers.
Napoli are insisting that the €65m, fell short of the €81m clause attached to Osimhen’s contract in the January window. Galatasaray are the only club that could get a rebate for €75m.
If other clubs can match the €81m Galatasaray have the right to a €6m compensation if Osimhen cut short his loan deal and join another club.
Osimhen’s clause was initially worth €130m, but it was lowered last summer when the striker signed a new deal with Napoli before joining Galatasaray on loan.
Manchester United, Chelsea are the other clubs eyeing a deal for the player in the summer. Manchester United had made an attempt this January, but Osimhen insisted on staying at Galatasaray for the rest of the season.
