The Ekiti State police have arrested a man identified as Ayomide Jinaidu who allegedly abducted a 15-year-old girl on her way to school and sexually abused her for five days.
According to Ekiti State police spokesperson SP Sunday Abutu, the suspect lured the girl to his house and kept her locked up.
“The operatives of the Ado Central Division arrested one Ayomide Jinaidu of Omisanjana area of Ado Ekiti for abducting and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl.
“Investigation revealed that the victim was on her way to school when the suspect accosted and lured her into his house where she was kept and sexually harassed for about five days.
“The suspect made a confessional statement to that effect,” said the police statement released by SP Abutu Wednesday.
He urged parents to be mindful of their children’s safety in face of rising number of rapes and kidnap of minors. He also asked victims of rapes to promptly report any case of sexual abuse to the police.
