Best African Music Performance Grammy winner Temilade Openiyi a.k.a Tems is pouring her heart out to Seyi Sodimu, the original composer of “Love Me Jeje.”
Seyi Sodimu back in 1997 rocked the airwaves with “Love Me Jeje” and Tems who probably sang the song as a two-year old revived it to the liking of the Grammy Award committee. She won her first individual Grammy Awards in her fledging music career.
Taking to her X after fans reminded her, she didn’t appreciate Seyi Sodimu during her acceptance speech in Los Angelos last Sunday, Tems wrote on her X.
“I just want to thank the wonderful #seyimusic for his role in the support and clearing of his OG song Love me jeje. It’s brought the original song back to life for me and I’m glad that it’s getting its flowers today. A timeless classic.
“I appreciate you so much. Thank you for your love and support.”
Tems’ win at the Grammys was a historic moment, beating out notable artists such as Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, and Lojay.
