US rapper Kayne West a.k.a Ye may have lost a $20m concert deal in Japan after he and his wife Bianca Censori caused a stir at last Sunday’s Grammy Awards in Los Angelos.
West and his wife made a spectacle at the red carpet when his wife took off her fur coat to reveal a see-through dress, which displayed all her tools of enchantment. West did not stay for the duration of the event, he later denied reports that he was escorted out.
Daily Mail reports that West may not be performing at the Tokyo Dome in a concert scheduled for May 2025 as the sponsors of the event are not amused by the nude stunt, which according to sources was used by the 47-years-old rapper to promote his upcoming Album.
“The investors in Japan who are backing the concerts are extremely upset by this. It is highly likely that they will pull the funding for the shows,” a source told Daily Mail, saying the so-called stunt “has been greeted with horror in Japan.”
The insider explained that Japan is experiencing “a cultural awakening about women’s rights,” noting that “what he did is being seen as an act of coercive control, which is utterly unacceptable.”
“He has completely culturally misjudged Japan,” the source went on. “He has greatly misjudged the tolerance of the Japanese people toward these activities. He’s just not welcome anymore,” the source said, adding that it was “creepy beyond belief.”
West lived in a Tokyo Hotel for a better part of 2024.
