Edo State governor Monday Okpebholo has reconstituted the Edo sporting association boards and members would be inaugurated Wednesday, February 5 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium Benin City.
The Edo State Athletics Association retained members from the previous board they include the chairman Dele Edokpayi, Princes Mabel Madojiemu, Felix Idahosa Erese, Friday Enoye, Austin Poland, Moses Oyiki, George Ogbeide a.k.a Lakayan and Dauda.
A letter signed by the Edo State Sports Commission executive chairman Amadin Desmond Enabulele said the members were selected based on their contributions to the growth of athletics in Edo State. He urged the members to bring their wealth of experience as they go about the business of discovering and grooming track and field athletes in the Edo State.
Princess Madojiemu speaking on the development said she was elated to be part of the development of athletics in her home State and will join hands with the other members to ensure that young athletes are discovered and groomed to world standards.
A number of talents have been discovered from the Princess Mabel Madojiemu School Athletics Championships, she has been running for four years now. These athletes include Prestina Ochonoghor who made her debut Olympics appearance at the Paris 2024 games, where she got to the final.
