Cristiano Ronaldo would Wednesday February 5 turn 40 and he is targeting a 1000 career goals to cement his football legacy.
Ronaldo who was speaking during an interview with Spanish media outlet El Chiringuito said as far as he was concerned, he is the greatest player of all time, despite the fact his former rival at the LaLiga Lionel Messi have always been rated the best of this era.
“I am the best player ever, I believe that,” he said.
“I’m fast, I’m strong, [I score] with my header, with the left, no one has ever been more complete than me.
“You may prefer Pele, Messi, Maradona, I understand and respect that.”
Ronaldo has won league titles in England, Spain and Italy and the Champions League with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus. He said he would love to reach 1000 goals, however, that would depend on his staying power.
‘If I finish on 920, 925 goals… it doesn’t matter to me at all. I am the best in history. Period.
‘If I reach 1,000 goals, great. If not, that’s fine too. Numbers don’t lie.’
