Famed music producer and music executive Irv Gotti has died at the age of 54.
Irv Gotti was famous for producing artists like Jay-Z, Ja Rule, DMX, Ashanti and Vanessa Carlton. He died Wednesday in New York after a long battle with stroke and diabetes.
“Def Jam Recordings and the extended Def Jam family of artists, executives and employees, are deeply saddened at the loss of Irv Gotti,” the parent company of Murder Inc. when it was established in 1998, said in a statement.
“His contributions at Def Jam, as both an A&R executive and in partnership with Murder Inc., helped pave the way for the next generation of artists and producers, a force that reshaped the soundscape of hip hop and R&B.”
Meanwhile rapper Curtis Jackson a.k.a 50 Cent, is celebrating his death. 50 Cent shared a picture of himself smoking hookah, while sitting on a couch next to a tombstone that says “RIP”.
Also, he had a second old red-carpet picture of Gotti. He wrote: “I’m smoking on dat Gotti pack. Nah God bless him. LOL.”
50 Cent’s feud with Gotti began in the late 1990’s due to the rivalry between Murder Inc. and 50 Cent’s G-Unit Records.
