Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye said he is happy to be back in training after suffering injury and an investigation launched against him for alleged involvement in a betting scandal.
Okoye who is expected to play in the World Cup qualifier against Rwanda next month returned to training this week with his club Udinese and he is back to full fitness after a successful surgery on his ankle. His last game for Udinese was in their 2-0 home loss to Genoa on December 4.
Okoye was in goal when the Super Eagles lost 2-1 to Rwanda during a Nations Cup qualifier in Uyo, last November.
“God showed up for Me, I’m happy; imagine suffering from what you know nothing about, a very big thank you to my Nigerian brothers/sisters who took it upon them… now the storm is over! Let’s do it again,” said the goalkeeper on his social media handle.
Maduka is available for selection in Udinese’s Serie A match on Sunday.
