Violence accompanied with gun shots erupted in various parts of Osun State Monday as the People’s Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress supporters clashed over who controls the local government areas.
While the PDP claimed that the chairmen have been sacked by a court ruling by a Federal High Court sitting Osogbo which nullified their election, the APC claimed that a Court of Appeal judgement had reinstated the chairmen and on Monday several of the APC chairmen made a move to reclaim their secretariats and this led violence, and several people were killed. They include Remi Abass of the APC former chairman of Irewole Local Government who tried to return to his office.
“ A lot of people have been killed…six persons were killed while they were attempting to take-Over the Secretariat. We have deposited the bodies in the morgue while the injured were receiving treatment at the hospital,” said Osun Commissioner for Protocol and Government Affairs
Reacting to the violence Afrobeats music David Adeleke a.k.a Davido whose uncle Ademola Adeleke is running the State called on the State Commissioner of Police to ensure law and order before all hell was let loose.
“Mr Commissioner, respect the rule of law!!! You are not madder or crazier than us!! Make we all kuru mad! I will post you every day everywhere, Mr man!!! Try me, f…,” Davido ranted on his X social media page
Still not done he added: “Mr Umar Abba, Osun State Commissioner, you are a disgrace to your children!!! Game on, f…er !!!! All of us go mad together!! Werey!!! Mr Commissioner, we die here.”
Also, Osun State caucus at the National Assembly which includes three senators and nine House of called police to main the peace instead of taking sides in the crisis.
“Sadly, this is being perpetrated with the support of some security personnel, relying on a different court judgement, despite a subsisting court judgement which upheld the nullification of their purported election,” they said in a statement.
The lawmakers further alleged that the crisis was orchestrated under the directives of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, alongside certain APC leaders and security agency heads in the state.
