A 60-year-old man identified as Hahahaha Fatai Ayinla has been nabbed by agents of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency at the export shed of the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos for attempting to export various drugs include cocaine concealed in prayer beads and other items.
According to NDLEA director of media and advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the suspect was arrested while trying to ship a cargo containing clothes, sandals, shoes and prayer beads to New York, USA, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Poland.
A search of the items revealed drugs like skunks, cocaine and other illicit drugs hidden in the various items.
” In this holy month when people are consecrating themselves and making supplications to their God, some persons were preoccupied with concealing cocaine in prayer beads and locally made shoes to desecrate the precincts of the holy land in the holy month.
“They were, however, intercepted by #ndlea_nigeria officers as shown by the attached pictures,” Mr. Babafemi posted on X.
Also arrested at the Lagos Airport was a 43-years-old business woman Jakpor Egware May. She was caught in possession of tramadol skunk and cannabis, while attempting to board an Air France flight to Italy on Saturday 8th March 2025.
She claimed that she bought the drugs herself, with the intention to resell them in Italy.
