Nigerian Boxing Board of Control, president Rafiu Ladipo has called on members to rededicate themselves to the task of developing the game in the country.
Dr. Ladipo made the call after a two-hour meeting in celebration of a triumphant court case, which challenged the board’s authority, reputation and integrity as the only sanctioning body in the country. The NBB of C was dragged to a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, by a faceless group, which claimed to represent stakeholders.
It is on record however, that since instituting the case no one showed up either as complainant or interested party, and after one year, the presiding judge, dismissed the case for lack of merit.
At the end of the emergency meeting in Lagos, the NBB of C president Dr Rafiu Oladipo enjoined all stakeholders to stand firm, renew their commitment in the quest to uplift professional boxing in the country. Others board members present at the meeting included vice president prince Ade Olofin, Remove Aboderin secretary general and licensed boxing promoters who came in from across the country.
