Veteran women 400m runner Patience Okon-George proved that she still has some steam left as she dominated the women 400m race of the MTN CHAMPS Continental Relays Thursday in Lagos.
It was another day of electrifying performances as the athletes maintained the high energy from the previous day and six-time national women 400m champion Okon-George was a delight to watch as she cruised to victory with a season’s best of 52.67s. She finished ahead of Team MTN’s Miracle Donald-Uwem (55.10s) and Pemisire Adepoju Adedoyin (56.29s).
In the men’s 400m Samson Nathaniel coasted to victory, crossing the line in 46.71s. Team MTN’s Benjamin Magaji matched his Personal Best (PB) of 48.04s to secure 2nd place, while Deji Sholotan finished 3rd in 48.31s.
In the men’s 100m Favour Ashe blazed to victory in the men’s 100m, clocking 10.28s ahead of Chidera Ezeakor (10.38s) and Thankgod Igube (10.49s), while in the women’s race Iyanoluwa Bada had a helping hand from the wind running 11.30s (+2.6m/s) to clinch the title, while Flore-Julie Krakre and Janet Adesiyan finished 2nd and 3rd in 11.86s and 11.90s, respectively.
In the junior category, John Caleb extended his unbeaten streak, claiming the men’s 100m title with a time of 10.45s. Qudus Akintoye followed in 10.65s, while Abdulrahman Jimoh secured 3rd place in 10.75s.
