Members of the Angwan Kari community in Keffi Local Government Area of Nasarawa State are mourning the gruesome murder of a Christian couple by suspected Fulani herdsmen over a dispute.
Mr. Williams Wasiu Jimoh and his wife Banke William Jimoh, were killed in a midnight attack on Sunday April 6, 2025, by a group of men armed with dangerous weapons. According to reports Mrs. Jimoh was raped severally and her throat slit by the attackers, while Mr. Williams who was found unconscious with numerous machete cuts on his body died afterwards in the hospital.
According to Pastor Lee Ngbede the Keffi Zonal Coordinator of the Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS), the couple were committed Christians who were active in the FCS.
“Brother and Sister Jimoh were devoted members of the Fellowship of Christian Students in Keffi.
“Their brutal death is a shock to us all. We are still struggling to come to terms with the horror,” Pastor Ngbede told Daily Post.
The couple’s brutal murder went on unnoticed for several days. It was a concerned family friend and one of Mr. Jimoh’s colleagues that made the shocking discovering and alerted the police. When officers arrived and forced the door open, they discovered Mrs. Jimoh’s lifeless and decomposing body on the bed. Her posture suggested she had been raped; her throat was slashed.
“The injuries, especially the machete cuts, resemble previous attacks we’ve seen involving herders. And there had been a recent quarrel between the deceased woman and some of them,” said a community member.
Mrs Jimoh was burring on April 10, while Mr. Jimoh was laid to rest Wednesday, April 16.
