Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice believes the Gunners can win the Champions League title after they edging out Real Madrid on 5-1 aggregate scores.
In the second half Bukayo Saka who missed a VAR awarded penalty in the first half scored an exquisite goal chipping Thibaut Courtois for Arsenal’s first reward of the night for resilience, Vinicius’ equaliser gave Madrid hope, but Gabriel Martinelli twisted in the knife in the dying minutes to send the defending champions packing from competition.
“I just think it’s such a special night for this club, a historic night for this club. We have an objective in this competition. We want to play the best teams and we want to win this competition,” Rice who was man of the match said.
“Semi-finals is massive for us, and we just want to take tonight in. PSG next, they’re an amazing team. We’ve played them once already. We feel they’re a different team from then. We’ve seen what they can do, but we also saw what [Aston] Villa did to them last night [Tuesday] — caused them a lot of problems.”
Arsenal have never won the
Champions League and this looks like the year they will put their name on the trophy.
In the other game of the evening Inter reached the Champions League last four after drawing 2-2 with Bayern Munich to win a pulsating last-eight tie 4-3 on aggregate.
The Italian champions will face Barcelona in the semis.
