The police in Delta State are investigating the controversial death of Shimite Bello Love who is the special adviser to Delta State governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, on Trade and Export.
Mrs Love died on Easter Sunday in Asaba and her family members are pointing accusing fingers at her husband Pastor David Favour Love, who according to the police is in protective custody as investigation continues.
According to a family member Mrs Love popularly known as “Sabificate” was hale and hearty when he spoke to her on Saturday, but on Sunday when he called her phone there was no response from her end. Later her maid called to inform family members her husband had locked Mrs Love all day in her room.
“Her brother rushed over and found her inside the house with foam already coming out of her mouth. He took her to the hospital, but she was declared dead on arrival,” said the family member.
Delta Police spokesperson Bright Edafe, said Shimite was confirmed dead at the hospital where she was taken.
“He (the husband) was the one who called to report that his wife died and that he was receiving threats from her family, who feared he might be attacked. It was on this basis that we went to his house and brought him in for his own safety.
“The situation became more complex when the deceased’s family later lodged a formal complaint with the police.
“We are currently investigating. In situations like this, only an autopsy can determine whether the death was natural or due to other causes.”
