Rivers State sole administrator Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.) Thursday shunned the House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State oversight, despite being in Abuja for the National Economic Council meeting.
The House of Reps committee headed by Professor Julius Ihonvbere is meant to play for the sole administrator appointed by President Bola Tinubu after he declared a state of emergency in Rivers and suspended governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy and the House of Assembly members.
But so far Ibas has failed to appear before the committee to explain how far and how well he has handled his job. He was scheduled to appear on April 17, 2025, but he pleaded for more time.
He was then booked to make an appearance by 3.00pm Thursday April 24, 2025, but he was nowhere to found to the disappointment of the committee members who went into a closed-door session.
When asked about Ibas’s failure to honor the meeting, Ihonvbere simply replied, “no comment.”
