Liverpool manager Arne Slot said he wants no delay to their title celebrations when they face Tottenham on Sunday, and his players must avoid defeat by all means.
Liverpool will win the Premier League on Sunday if they avoid defeat to Tottenham.
“First of all, that’s a big responsibility because we are aware of the fact that the last time this club won the league it was COVID time,” Slot said ahead of the game.
“So, everybody is looking forward to Sunday, but we know there is still a job to be done, at least one point.
“First there is a game to be played against a Tottenham side that is playing for something special as well, maybe not in the league but definitely in the Europa League. So, they want to go towards Bodo/Glimt in the best possible prepared way.
“We are only focused on the next opponent and that is Tottenham now. So, we will try to prepare the team the same way we have the whole season and hopefully the team, the players, can bring the energy, the same mentality towards the game as they’ve brought throughout the whole season.
“And the fans, we are expecting from them the same.”
With 79 league points ahead, Liverpool are 12 points clear on the table, their closest rivals Arsenal blew their chance to close the gap and delay the Reds’ party, when they drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
