For several hours students Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola Monday, April 28, took to the streets of Yola protesting scarcity of water and power in hostels.
The students who disrupted movement in and out of the institution said for weeks they have gone on with water and electricity.
One of the students who spoke on the matter said, “This is not the first time this is happening. We’ve protested before, but nothing changed. We’re doing this because we need our voices to be heard. We deserve a functioning school environment.”
Venting their frustration over the situation, the students called on the government to immediately address the issues.
Speaking on the incident, a student who pleaded anonymity said it has been difficult to concentrate on class activities with the pressing need of water and power supply.
The student said, “We can’t continue like this. It’s been one week without power and water and it’s affecting our studies. It’s hard to concentrate when the school is so uncomfortable.”
