Remo Stars coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, said he expects his team to go one step above winning the Nigeria Premier League Football for the first time in their history.
To achieve the feat Remo Stars pipped Niger Tornadoes 1-0 last Sunday and according to Ogunmodede the club will not be carried away by the success that earned them the ticket to the CAF Champions League.
“We will always be one step ahead of what we have always been, we can’t lose our guards as a club, the structure we have tried to lay will always be,” said the coach.
He stated that midfielder Olamilekan Adedayo was his pick for Player of the Season for Remo Stars.
Olamilekan scored the only goal of the match to hand Remo Stars victory. It was his sixth goal of the season.
Remo Stars became the second privately owned club to win the Nigeria league. Udoji United achieved the feat in 1996. It is also the first time a southwest club has lifted the trophy since Julius Berger’s triumph two decades ago.
Remo Stars lead the table with 68 points from 35 matches, 10 points ahead of second-placed, Rivers United.
