A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has given the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission 24 hours to release socialite and businesswoman, Aisha Achimugu.
Presiding judge Justice Inyang Ekwo during a hearing Wednesday on the case between the EFCC and Ms. Achimugu gave the ruling against the background of her arrest at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport Abuja on Monday, after she had volunteered in Court to appear at the EFCC.
Justice Ekwo had on Monday, ordered Achimugu to submit herself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in connection with an ongoing investigation bordering on Money laundering and other offences. But she was whisked into detention by the EFCC and Achimugu reportedly went on hunger strike to protest her arrest.
After her arrest on Monday, Achimugu was brought to the Court by the EFCC on Wednesday at about 11.35am.
Hearing is expected to resume on May 2.
