The body of a Point-of-Sale vendor Onoriode Bethel has been found buried in a hotel after she went missing in December 2024.
Bethel, 22, was killed by the hotel manager and according to the Delta State police spokesperson Edafe Bright, the manager is in custody helping the police in their investigation.
According to Mr. Edafe the incident happened at the Century Home Hotel in Owehlogbo, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State. The manager identified as Iboirode was said to have lured Bethel into the hotel premises in the guise of making a transaction but ended up killing her.
“The suspect murdered Bethel and buried her body on the hotel premises,” Edafe said.
He said after the murder of the lady the suspected used her phone to contact her father demanding for a ransom.
“He used her phone to call her father, demanding ransom. He even used her POS to collect the money, extracted the password from the girl before killing her. Her remains have been recovered,” Edafe added.
Also, the wife of the hotel manager confirmed that her husband committed the crime.
“My husband called her into the hotel; she is a friend of his. That day, he called her on the phone and took her into a room.
“It was around 7 pm one evening. I don’t know how he killed her because I was in our room. It was when he came out around midnight that he told me he had killed her,” she said.
According to the police the case of Bethel’s disappearance was brought to the fore following a March 2025 arrest of the manager and other hotel staff over the murder of a guest Pastor Sunday Ogofohta.
It was during interrogation Iboirode confessed to killing Bethel.
