A Nigerian footballer Franklin Ogbonna might cost his club a massive 57 points deduction after it was discovered he faked his work permit documents in South Africa.
Ogbonna according to reports by FARPost fraudulently used his study and general work visas in South Africa to register for Highlands Park a club in the second division of the South African Football League.
Ogbonna while playing for the Club helped them to garner 83 points from 34 outings and topping the division with six points clear of their closest rival Gomora. They are now faced with a potential relegation, if the points from the games Ogbonna played in are deducted.
This revelation follows an investigation by the Department of Home Affairs, which established that the unique control number on the study visa is invalid and that no such visa records exist. Similarly, the tracking number on the general work visa is also invalid, with no corresponding application records available.
“The visa label unique control number 877 61509 is invalid, and no such visa exists. The tracking number, which appears on the visa, is invalid, and no such records exist,” reads an affidavit by Department of Home Affairs.
