World record holder in the woman 100m hurdles Tobi Amusa is picking up the pieces after a disappointing 2024 season and she made a good case for a strong showing in 2025 at the Diamond League meet in Rabat, Morocco.
She clocked 12.45 seconds the sixth fastest time so far in the world this season to win in Rabat. Amusan’s time eclipsed the area meet of 12.51 seconds set by Brianna McNeal.
Amusan opened her Diamond League campaign in May with back-to-back fourth place finishes in Xiamen and Shanghai, showing flashes of form but missing the podium. Earlier, in March, she claimed a comfortable victory at Velocity Fest 16 in Jamaica, although against a relatively modest field.
The three times Diamond League final winner said after the race that she is working harder at her hurdling to make a difference this season.
“More hurdles practice, because I have been doing more sprinting. It was after the first two Diamond League meetings, I knew I had to go back to doing more hurdle drills,” Amusan said.
