Enduring women’s 400m runner Patience Okon-George, Monday set a new National Sports Festival record with a time of 51.64 seconds.
Okon-George representing Cross River State broke the 51.7O seconds run set by Imaobong Nse Uko of Akwa Ibom in the 2020 Sports Festival in Edo State.
Competing in the women’s 400m at MKO Abiola Stadium Abeokuta, Okon-George in the absence of Elo Esther Joseph who denied her gold at Delta 2022 Sports Festival, prove too hot for the women in the field she coasted home unchallenged to finish 51.64 to celebrate her first NSF 400m gold. It was also a season’s best for Okon-George.
Her closest rival was Happy Rasheed of Rivers State who clocked 53.95secs to settle for silver.
Miracle Uwem Donald of Lagos State finished 54.20ses to settle for bronze.
“I’m excited winning the gold and also setting a Festival record and a season  best.
“I’ve really work so hard at it…I still have a lot to offer,” Okon-George.
