Coach Solomon Aliyu and Prof. Lucas Ogunjimi are set to slug it out for the coaches/technical officials’ slot in the Athletics Federation of Nigeria board.
The election is slated for Monday June 9, 2025, and both candidates have stepped up their campaign for who wins the seat on the AFN board. Aliyu on Monday in the coaches primary elections held online scored 79-40 votes landslide win over coach Godwin Ogogo.
Aliyu a former national 110m hurdler is now hoping to repeat the same next Monday. He is one of the ex-athletes who are determined to come on board the AFN and do things differently.
According to Aliyu who lost his bid to be on the board in 2020, his primary goal is to ensure that coaches and technical officials are heard in the decision-making process of the AFN.
