Oshoala...Back for WAFCON

Veteran strikers Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega and defender Ashleigh Plumptre are among the Super Falcons’ list of 24 players coach Austine Madugu has pen down for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations billed for July 5-26 in Morocco.
The Super Falcons will open their campaign on July 6 when they tackle against Tunisia. Then after play Botswana July 10 and Algeria July 13 in the other group B games. Ahead of the tournament the Super Falcons are expected to play a friendly against Portugal on Monday and also play Ghana in their last warm up match.
Oshoala,  a six-time African Woman Footballer of the Year winner missed the Super Falcons last game, and it was speculated that her time with the team may have been over as coach Madugu is eyeing young players. Ordega has not also played for team for a while is back to the squad. Plumptre who has not futured for the team since moving to Saudi Arabia women league, is also back.
Chiamaka Nnadozie, Michelle Alozie, Toni Payne, and captain Rasheedat Ajibade remain irreplaceable. Gift Monday and Uchenna Kanu were dropped from the team to the WAFCON. Instead, three home-based players were given a nod; they include Udoka Unachukwu, Isah Sikiratu from Nasarawa Amazons and Miracle Usani from Edo Queens.
