Residents of Venice have forced Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos to have change to his wedding plans after they threatened to disrupt his happy day.
According to the Venetians, Jeff Bezos wedding party will shut down their city’s famous canals and had vowed to block the waterways with inflatable crocodiles.
Bezos, 61, who is remarrying after divorcing his first wife Mckenzie Scot planned to mark the day at the 16th-century Scuola Grande della Misericordia as part of a multi-day wedding celebration with fiancée Lauren Sánchez.
“This is a big victory for us,” declared Tommaso Cacciari, a member of the No Space for Bezos protest group. “Who would have thought that we could change the plans of one of the richest men on the planet?”
The wedding will now take place at the Arsenale – a vast, fortress-like complex of shipyards and warehouses once used to build Venetian warships.
Guest including Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, Salma Hayek Pinault, Sir Elton John, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian, Jared Kushner, Karlie Kloss, and Sánchez’s Blue Origin spaceflight crewmates Katy Perry and Gayle King Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump, are being expected at the wedding celebrations.
Bezos Amazon founder and Washington Post owner — is one of the world’s richest men, with an estimated net worth of $231 billion according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index. He and Sánchez — a former news anchor and licensed pilot — got engaged in 2023, four years after going public with their relationship.
