Former Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari, has bowed out at the age of 82.
He died at about 3.30pm Sunday in a London hospital where he has been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness that has plagued for a long time now.
Buhari first came into the Nigerian political scene as military head of state between 1983-1984, when the military overthrew a democratically elected government of President Shehu Shagari. Buhari himself was later overthrown.
In 2015 he won a popular vote to unseat President Goodluck Jonathan, but he disappointed Nigerians who were looking up to him to revive the nation’s dwindling economic fortunes and social upheavals.
His death dominated discussion on X social media.
