Following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari Nigerians have been pouring out their hearts in a mixed bag of reactions.
Some expressed their condolences while others remembered the hardship late Buhari’s administration caused them they had no kind words. Buhari’s ally Farouk Aliyu, speaking on Channels TV Monday said no matter what has happened it was not right for Nigerians to hurl insults on their late leader.
“Each of us must have done something wrong to someone in one way or the other. It is quite unformate that Nigerians are heaping insults on former president Buhari after he has died,” Farouk said.
“We all are humans and have our different shortcomings. Buhari is no exception. He should be respected and praised for his own contribution to our national growth and development,” he said.
But in a separate forum relationship coach Solomon Buchi said Nigerians have rights to express how they feel about the late former President.
He wrote on X “I know we all want to get preachy, but you cannot ask people who were negatively impacted by Buhari’s presidency not to rejoice over his death. Real lives were lost, real people suffered and real families endured extreme suffering.
“Buhari’s life isn’t more important than all the lives wasted as a result of his clueless government. You can’t force the legacy of how you live determines how people feel when you pass away. It’s not wickedness; it’s consequence.”
