Nine Thai Monks who broke their celibacy vows have been thrown out of the monkhood.
The Monks were disrobed after they allegedly slept with a seductress Wilawan Emsawat, 35, popularly known as Golf.
She recorded her sexual escapades with the Monks and used it to blackmail them and made large sums of money off the Monks.
The Thai police began investigating the case when a Monk at a famous temple in Bangkok left.
Ms Wilawan, was said to have seduced the Monk before telling him she was pregnant and asking for 7.2m baht (£165,000) in child support.
She was arrested on Tuesday at her luxury home outside Bangkok on suspicion of crimes including extortion, money laundering and receiving stolen goods.
Five phones owned by Ms Wilawan contained videos and photos of her having sex with numerous monks, some of whom were wearing their religious robes, according to the police’s Central Investigation Bureau (CIB).
“We will investigate monks across the country,” Mr Pankaew Jaroonkiat a police commissioner said. “I believe that the ripple effects of this investigation will lead to a lot of changes.
