Veteran actor Pete Edochie, has claimed that Igbo men find it difficult to succeed politically because they cannot condone treachery.
According to Edochie in an interview on Afia TV, the Igbo people find it difficult to maintain political relationships because they are unforgiving of betrayal.
Edochie said, “An Igbo man is not a good politician. And I will tell you why, people who are used to politics or the treachery that characterises politics, can overlook a lot of things. But the Igbo man is not constituted to condone treachery a second time. If you hurt the Igbo man once in politics, he will never allow you to hurt him again. He will recoil himself. That’s the average Igbo man.”
He further attributed this to the Igbo culture, where people prioritize loyalty and trust.
“The Igbo man is not constituted to sustain political treachery. The moment you exhibit treachery in your involvement with an Igbo man, they cut you off. That’s it”, he added.
