Actress Destiny Etiko has expressed shock over the death of Anambra entrepreneur Ifesinachi Onyekere a.k.a Fish Magnet, who was shot and killed by gunmen who had kidnapped him.
Etiko lamented on her Instagram page that it was painful to lose a hard-working young Nigerian youth.
She wrote: “Some people are not human at all. Kidnapping and taking money from him weren’t enough… must you sniff life out of him?
“Please our government should look into the security of our country. This tragedy is becoming a nightmare to us.
“We need maximum security in all the States especially in the eastern part of Nigeria”
Also, social activist Martins Otse a.k.a VDM added that the killing of Fish Magnet can potentially dissuade youths from going into business, knowing they could be killed at the end.
“The kidnapping and killings in Anambra State is too much. What is the hope of the entrepreneurs, what is the hope of those going into business in Nigeria?
“I will be coming to Anambra State maybe on the 4th then Maybe we can do a candlelight when it will not clash with the sit-at-home in the state.
“Well will do walking in the fish market and do some awareness on the kidnappings going on in Anambra State,” he said.
Fish Magnet was the only son of Chinyere Onyekesi, the Women Leader of the All-Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state. He was attacked last weekend at his residence in Ezinifite village, Okpuno, Awka South Local Government Area. The murder has triggered outrage among residents, civil society groups and business owners in Anambra, with many raising alarm over rising insecurity in the South-East.
Anambra State Police command spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said preliminary investigations showed the victim had been trailed before the attack.
According to him the gunmen first shot him on the leg, before taking him away forcefully. His lifeless body was later discovered when the abductors who called his mother to pick it from one spot.
