Three men who had gone to deliver ransom payment for some kidnap victims have ended up being abducted by the gunmen they have been negotiating with.
The men from Auchi, Etsako West Local Government of Edo State, plead with their community members to rally and gather the money to free them and the other victims. They appealed in a viral video released by their captors.
One of the victims, who identified himself simply as Lukeman, spoke on behalf of the other two.
The kidnappers, who masked their faces in the video, displayed a human skull, as the victims continued to plead for assistance to enable them to regain their freedom.
A source in the community disclosed that the kidnappers had demanded ₦70 million ransom for the earlier victims, but it was negotiated down to an undisclosed amount.
But, on reaching the captivity to deliver the ransom, they were held down by the kidnappers who insisted that the ₦70 million earlier demanded must be completed before releasing them.
