Nigeria Super Eagles B are faced with an uphill task in Tuesday’s group D game against Sudan in the ongoing 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), in Tanzania.
The Eric Chelle led team lost to the defending champions, Senegal in a game they dominated but lacked the bite to punish their opponents, but now they face an equally tough and unpredictable Sudan.
“We are facing Sudan tomorrow and that’s the last chance I will give to this team, else I will excuse myself to focus on the task ahead which is preparing the super Eagles Nigeria senior team to the AFCON and World Cup 2026,” Chelle said Monday.
His counterpart Kwesi Appiah who is equally looking for a result after drawing his first game against Congo said they would have no fear of a Nigerian fight back at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
“Nigeria is one of the biggest nations in African football and we respect them, but we won’t fear them,” Appiah declared at the pre-match press conference.
“I don’t believe in any rivalry; this is a game and the best team will win. I have watched only one game of the Nigerian team and can’t assess them based on one game. I don’t see any player as a threat, but the entire team.”
