Three weeks after sweating to victory at the Women African Cup of Nations, the Super Falcons are yet to receive a dime of allowances and match bonuses they have earned.
Also, team captain Rasheedat Ajibade disclosed that the $100,000 reward and plots of land promised by President Bola Tinubu are yet to materialise.
The Super Falcons beat the host country Morocco 3-2 after going down 2-0 in the first half. They were treated to a heroines welcome in Abuja by President Tinubu who vowed to reward the ladies for their hard work.
“We have not received our money, but hopefully, it would be paid. They have not paid, all the promises, we have not received anything,” Ajibade said in an interview with Chude Jideonwo’s podcast.
She added people are already on her to collect a slice of reward.
“ I hope it comes soon because people want to suffocate me and they’ve shared the money into percentage, and we’ve not received it. But when they pay, it’d be announced. Our match bonuses are also work in progress.”
The Super Falcons as champions earned the $1m top prize.
Meanwhile the Nigeria Football Federation is mum on why the team players have not been paid their bonuses.
