Till love do us part…Man marries longtime partner, dies few hours later

A man in St Lucia has died a few hours after fulfilling his wish of marrying his longtime partner and mother of five kids.
Chris Lionel,37, and the love of his life Lisa got married at the hospital where he was receiving treatment after being critically injured during a shootout in Marchan, St Lucia.
Surrounded by close family, hospital staff, and the hum of medical machines, the couple exchanged vows in an emotional bedside ceremony.
The couple had planned to tie the nuptial knots in December before Lionel was caught up in deadly shooting.
“That was his wish, so I made it happen,” Lisa said. The couple shared five children, ranging in age from two years old to their early teens.
Lionel had gone to buy drinks at his friend Kwame George’s store on July 20, 2025, when gunmen attacked them and opened fire. George died instantly, while Lionel hit in Mutiple regions of the body survived. He hanged on to life for two weeks before succumbing to his injury.
The tragedy has cast a shadow of grief over the community, even as many find solace in knowing Lionel’s last moments were spent sealing his lifelong commitment to the woman he loved.
“You can see the gentleman loved her; check the way he is looking at her. My condolences to both families. May he rest in peace.”
