Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Group CEO, Bayo Ojulari, Thursday disclosed that some powerful interest affected his reforms in the oil company want him and his management staff dead.
Ojulari who was recently in the eye of the storm when some heads of government security agencies allegedly tried to force out of office said he is a target for elimination for following through the task given to him by President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during a meeting with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Ojulari said: “We are under attack. It is real. There are formidable plans to take me out of this seat. But we are determined to stay focused and deliver on the mandate given to us by President Tinubu.
“I’m not hiding from anybody. I’m not a politician. I may have to learn a bit about politics, but for me, this is about development, and I’m ready to learn,” he said.
Ojulari lamented that despite the billions of dollars spent on the refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna they were still not functioning.
“A lot of money has been spent on these refineries but translating that into profitability has been difficult because of years of neglect. When I resumed, we found that we were losing between $300 million and $500 million monthly. We had to stop operations and look for a sustainable solution,” he said.
