Super Eagles captain said he expects new defence inclusion Benjamin Fredrick to play an important part as the team prepare to tackle Rwanda and South Africa in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Fredrick was a revelation at the Unity Cup last May in England where the Super Eagles emerged Champions beating Ghana, Trinadad and Tobago and Jamaica.
“Benjamin is a humble, hardworking, very talented defender. I think we were all really impressed with what he showed us in the Unity Cup.
“To win the Unity Cup and also to come in so last minute and to play so well, it’s not easy at all. So, I think a big credit to him. I know how hard he’s worked.
“We have a young talented player that’s going to be the future of Nigeria as a defender, and we have a current very talented Super Eagle who has helped him give the opportunity to play professional football and be a Super Eagle.
“So, it’s an amazing story, and yeah, I’m looking forward to seeing him continue his development and becoming important for the team.”
Fredrick who can play in the centre back and defensive midfield is a major player for Belgian Pro-league side FCV Dender EH.
