Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice of Nigeria, Abubakar Malami, has alerted President Bola Tinubu’s top security officials of an alleged plot to destabilize Kebbi State through the importation of political thugs, foreign mercenaries, and illegal arms trafficking.
Malami said in a statement signed by his special assistant on media and publicity Mohammad Bello Doka, that the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), the Inspector General of Police (IGP), the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Comptroller-Generals of the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have been petitioned concerning the plot.
Malami, who is the leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State, alleged that certain political actors are allegedly collaborating with foreign mercenaries from the Niger Republic and arming them through illegal channels.
The petition claims these operatives are being deployed to intimidate citizens, suppress opposition voices, and disrupt the peace in Kebbi State.
He emphasized that the threats are not speculative but based on credible intelligence and personal experience.

The petition accused Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, and his associates of facilitating these activities, alleging covert ties to the terrorist network known as Lakurawa.
Malami described the situation as “a national security emergency” that transcends local politics and poses a direct threat to Nigeria’s sovereignty and internal security.
