Kenyans Wednesday celebrated with former junior athlete Faith Cherotic a.k.a Last Born after she announced her arrival in the club of legends by winning the 3000m women’s steeplechase gold at the Tokoyo 2025 World Championships.
Cherotic who won bronze at the Oregon worlds in 2022 and at the Paris 2024 Olympics, posted championships record of 8:51.59 secs to win gold. The victory was even more sweet for the Kenyans as Cherotic beat defending champion Kenyan-born Winfred Yavi, who is wearing Bahrain colours; she ran 8:56.46. Ethiopian Sembo Almayew picked the bronze with a personal best of 8:58.86. Kenya so far has bagged four golds.
